Where were you when the towers fell?
Were you alone or with someone you love
I was with my family that day
when the planes hit New York
and Shanksville
a close shave
I wasn’t there when the smoke filled the sky
I wasn’t there to comfort those who cried
I wasn’t there when innocence died
But I was there praying inside
I was there when the firefighters
and police helped all those
who were practically dead
on their feet
They were the ones
who where there
that fateful day
It is in their memories
I write this today
To all the families
of those who died
The firemen, police
and unknown
I hold you in my heart
forever my flag will fly
No one will break
my spirit like that day
I will forever love
The country
where I was born
and raised
So for any of you
who still blame us
for shame
We were not to blame
for what happened that day
